How to include Google Discover traffic on your Waves dashboards

If you would like your custom Waves Dashboard to display traffic coming in from google discover, this is the referrer you should use:

In order for your Waves Dashboard to be able to collect the traffic coming from Google Discover, the referrer you should use in the configuration is com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox.

The com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox referrer is the UTM equivalent of Google Discover traffic.

On iOS devices, Google treats this traffic as 'Private' by default. This means when an iPhone user clicks an article in the Google App, they arrive on your site without a digital fingerprint. Without using Google’s internal tools (like Search Console) or a more invasive server-level tracking system, this traffic is indistinguishable from someone typing your URL directly into their browser.

  • Google App (iOS): Traffic from the main Google app’s Discover feed often arrives as Direct traffic (no referrer).
