What is smartocto User Needs tagger?
Smartocto User Needs tagger is a smartocto service which analyses the text of your articles and identifies user needs.
The User Needs tagger will read through your supplied text and identify one or multiple user needs from the 4-axis system - four essential and basic drivers that lead to the user needs that circle around them:
- Fact driven (FAC): inform your audience (let them know something)
- Context driven (CON): explain to your audience (make them understand something)
- Emotion driven (EMO): move your audience (make them feel something)
- Action driven (ACT): motivate your audience (make them do something)

Are all languages supported?
As smartocto User Needs tagger is an AI-based service, it is important to note that support of different languages depends on the capabilities of our used AI provider. Before implementation, smartocto needs to verify if the desired language is supported for this service.
How does the UN tagger work?
There are two ways how you can tag User Needs automatically with smartocto:
- By using smartocto Real time and/or Insights
- Here you connect to us by installing tracking code
- We get your stories with metadata
- We scrape your content and tag stories automatically
- Tags are visible in our analytics and API
- By using public API
- You get access to our API
- You integrate it with your CMS, or some other solution
- You send us stories which you want to tag through API
- We return tags in JSON format

Where will you be able to see the tags and notifications in smartocto?
In smartocto Insights, the purple user needs badges will appear (see picture below), along with the filtering options according to user needs. You will also be able to include user needs in your Insights reports.

In smartocto Real Time, the user needs notifications will appear in the Stream section under Updates (Notifications labelled with a white bell). Additionally, you will be able to include user needs in your custom smartocto Waves dashboards.
