In depth: Here is the complete guide to all things possible within the Smartify system

The main components of the Smartify system are:

  1. Smartify Toolbox πŸ§°
  2. Smartify Notification Tracker πŸ””
  3. Smartify Report πŸ“‹

Smartify Toolbox 🧰

To access the Smartify Toolbox, go to Logbook>Smartify (screenshot below) in smartocto Real time.

The Smartify Toolbox will first show the Channel picker (screenshot below), highlighting the articles that Smartify has calculated to be the most suitable for the respective editorial actions.

Upon clicking on the β€˜show all’ (screenshot below), you will see the overview of all articles that could benefit from the corresponding editorial action, sorted by the predicted Link clicks and Engagement click-through rate. The forecast is created based on a particular Headline, Section, Author, and the recent traffic that the article has generated.

  • Include only stories from certain sections
  • Exclude particular stories from the list.

Smartify Notification Tracker πŸ””

The Smartify Notification Tracker can be accessed via Logbook>Notification Tracker (screenshot below)

The Notification Tracker page (screenshot below) is designed to work as a to-do list, allowing you to β€˜hide’ particular notifications or select them as β€˜done’. It also allows you to search for notifications, filter them and exclude the stories you prefer not to see.

Best practicesπŸ’‘

  • Facebook page optimisation 🌐

If your editorial team is looking to post one of your stories to Facebook, Smartify can help you decide which stories to choose - the system will scan through your articles which have not already been posted to your Facebook page and point out the ones that have the most potential to perform well after being published there. An important thing to have in mind is the system will recognise that the article is gathering traffic coming from Facebook, but that this particular article has not yet been published there. Taking into account the Author, Section and how that combination fared on Facebook previously, a solid foundation for your decision has already been made behind the courtains. That's when Smartify jumps in to alert you of a very important pattern that can otherwise easily go unnoticed.

  • Smart Newsroom consultant πŸ‘”

Think of Smartify as a very smart colleague you can consult with whenever you are faced with doubts such as which articles to add to the newsletter, move to the homepage or write an update about. The system will do the calculations for you and suggest the best picks based on your data from the past and what is happening right now.

  • Gain full control of the notification lists πŸ“

Think of the notification tracker as an easy-to-handle and more adaptable Stream of notifications - It has been built to provide you with full control and management of all the notifications that come in. By using it, you will be able to select the notifications as 'done' once you have completed a required action, or 'hide' the notification you feel is unneeded at the moment.

  • Customise the notification list to suit your Business model πŸŽ›οΈ

If you would like to signal out the notifications tied to a certain Business model (such as reach, efficiency, or loyalty), the notification tracker will allow you to track the exact notifications that are of interest to you through Add filter > Notification properties > Business model.

  • Enhance focus on particular Sections of interest πŸ”

The notification lists will provide all of the relevant notifications, making it difficult to focus on sections. If you would like to focus on a particular section and view notifications from certain Sections only you can go to Add filter > Sections and choose the desired section to show notifications relevant to that Section only.
